3 Things to Consider when Hiring a Photographer
Hiring the perfect photographer for your special event isn't that easy! and nor should it be. As a consumer you have to think about your budget, your timeline, your concerns AND your desired outcome. When searching for a photographer who can accommodate all of the above, here are 3 things to think about:
- How do they make you feel? - before hiring that random person you follow on social media, it's important to book a phone call, a zoom chat or an in person consult with them to get a sense of their personality. Do you feel comfortable with them? Does the conversation flow naturally? Can you laugh, joke and open up in front of them? These are all important considerations because you want to make sure you feel as natural and calm as possible in front of the camera and the person behind the lens.
- Are they good listeners? - during the initial stages of working with your photographer, you'll have ideas and suggestions when it comes to poses and prompts. Do they take these suggestions into consideration or do they dismiss your ideas? Do they try to work with your ideas in a way that sparks creativity and fun? Your final photos are a direct result of your photographer listening to your needs and wants from the session.
and lastly...
Do you like their style? - Photographers have different strengths when it comes to executing the photos they're taking. Different angles, shots of special details, how they communicate and assist with poses and prompts AND how they edit. Search through their website, their blog posts, their Pinterest Profile and their social media pages to get a sense of how they shoot and if you like it! A LOT!
